Reese McElroy, age 82, of Stephenville, Texas, passed away at Capstone Healthcare of Daingerfield on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Reese McElroy was born on September 25, 1943, in Stephenville, Texas, to the late Elvis and Margaret (Walsworth) McElroy. He married Jacqueline (Patten) McElroy in Stephenville, Texas, on December 10, 1987. Reese proudly served his country in the United States Army and later earned a degree in agriculture. He dedicated many years of his life to the skilled trade of welding, building a successful career through hard work, craftsmanship, and perseverance before retiring. His strong work ethic and commitment to service left a lasting impact on those who knew him. Reese was one of the last true cowboys. He lived a life rooted in hard work, honesty, and a deep love for the land. Whether he was riding, roping, or shoeing horses, he was happiest doing what he knew best. The cowboy way wasn't just something Reese did; it was who he was.
Reese is survived by his Wife Jacqueline; son Zeke (Nicole); daughters, Chrystal (Anthony) Douglas, Suzzan (Rodney) Tarno; grandchildren, Reese, Izabelle, Blade, Mikayla, Jonathan, Brittany, Ashley, Tony, Matthew, Dustin, TJ, Kelsey, Christopher; 16 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Neva, Nelda, and Linda.
He was preceded in death by his father Elvis McElroy; mother Margaret McElroy (Walsworth); brothers, Walter, and Jr.
