Funeral services for Naomi Carter Hughes will be conducted at First Baptist Church in Yantis, at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 2, 2011, with Rev. Robert Kinsey and Rev. David Bagwell officiating. Interment will follow at Yantis Cemetery, with Clay Stinnett, Tony Mabe, Dennis Hyde, Jim Cerretani, Ronald Bailey, Tony Anglin and Clint Miller serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Miller and Gene Hyde. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Naomi Carter Hughes passed away at her residence Monday morning, May 30, 2011. She was born in Yantis, on February 25, 1917, the daughter of C. H. Carter and Flanora (Cooper) Carter. She married A. L. Hughes. He preceded her in death in 1993. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Yantis.
Survivors include: sister, Doris Danks of Corpus Cristi; brother, V. J. Cooksey of Kaufman; four nieces, Margaret Hyde, Elaine Stinnett, Ruth Miller, Michelle Simons; nephew, Clay Stinnett and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mozelle Onetha and Faynell Cooksey and three brothers, J. F. Cooksey, Garland Cooksey and C. H. Stinnett.
