Funeral Services for Nola M. (Speed) Erion, age 87, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2009, with Brother Cleatus Speed officiating. Interment will follow at Emblem Cemetery, with Danny Williams, Kenneth Price, Pete Price, Randy Price, Barry Charlton and Jerry Ferrell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be W. C. Hettich and Bobby Mobley. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2009 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Nola M. (Speed) Erion passed away Thursday morning, August 6, 2009, at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. She was born in Emblem, on April 3, 1922, the daughter of William Addrian Speed and Dora Lee (Davis) Speed. She married Verne Earl Erion at Warrington, England, on July 17, 1945. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Erion was a homemaker and a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She served in the Women's Air Corp during World War II and she was a member of the V.F.W. Post and Eastern Star.
Survivors include: two daughters, Elaine Conradt of Mt. Pleasant and Beverly Tulenchik of Pine River, Minnesota; two sons, Gale Conrad Erion of Wilmington, Delaware and Howard Lee Erion of Bonham; sister, Jessie Virginia (Speed) Price of Como; grandchildren, Marty Tulenchik, Kathy Dannon, Michael Erion, Matthew Erion, Monteen William, Michael Pippins, Victoria Erion, Windy Pool and Brian Erion and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, Benny Earl Erion; four brothers, William, Allen, John and Emmett Speed and six sisters, Mary Story, Ethel Ferrell, Ruthie Speed, Edna Speed, Ida Speed and Sybil Hettich. Memorials may be made to the Hopkins County Genealogical Society.
