Pat Deaton

September 2, 1938 — March 22, 2025

Sulphur Springs

Patricia Ann Bauman Deaton (Pat), age 86, died peacefully on March 22, 2025 at Carriage House Manor in Sulphur Springs, Texas, with her children and her husband by her side. Her memorial service will be held on April 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Orwosky Funeral Home with visitation preceding the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Pat was born on September 2, 1938 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to William and Faye Simmons Bauman. Her childhood and high school years were spent in the El Paso, Texas area. She attended El Paso High School until her parents moved to Denver, Colorado where she spent her senior year and graduated from high school in 1956. To all that know her, it should be no surprise that she was crowned homecoming queen after attending there for only a few months. After graduating, she returned with her parents to Sulphur Springs and attended East Texas State University. She met and began dating Don Deaton and they married on November 26, 1957. After Don's draft into the U.S. Army, they moved to Lawton, Oklahoma and Pat gave birth to their daughter, Gina. They returned to Sulphur Springs and Pat gave birth to their son, Ricky. Pat was a stay-at-home mom until she returned to work as an aide for intellectually and physically disabled children which gave her much joy and satisfaction. She later worked for several years as a teacher's aide in the North Hopkins School District. She also spent many years and enjoyed working in the Hopkins County Appraisal Office. She also loved being a grandmother to her three grandchildren and she relished being able to meet and spend time with her three great-grandchildren. Pat had an extremely open and loving heart and always brought fun with her quick and irreverent sense of humor.

Pat is survived by her husband of 67 years, Don Deaton of Sulphur Springs; her sister, Dr. Margaret Bauman of San Luis Obispo, California; her daughter, Gina Deaton Law and her husband, James Law of Sulphur Springs; her son, Dr. Rick Deaton and his husband, Gary Niro of Los Angeles, California; grandson, Ryan Senior and his wife, Jordan Senior of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Megan Senior and her husband, Ryan Bocskay of Los Angeles, California; and grandson, Michael Law of Tacoma, Washington; her great-grandchildren Smith and Hayes Senior and Charlotte Bocskay. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Finally, she is survived by her Carriage House roommate, Sue Miller, with whom she spent over two years and shared much joy, friendship and laughter.

Pat was preceded in death by her father in 2000, her mother in 2005 and her brother Gary Bauman in 2016.

Pat's family also want to acknowledge their gratitude for the love and attention that Pat received during her last two-and-a-half years living at Carriage House Manor. The opportunity for her to receive so much love and offer hers in return enriched her final years.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of Pat's love and care for the safety of all children, the family would ask you to consider a donation to the Lake Country CASA at 202 Church Street, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482.
