Ricky Lee McCarty

Ricky Lee McCarty, age 66, of Cooper, TX passed away at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs, TX on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.   A family and friend led Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Ignite Ministries (formerly New Life Baptist Church), 628 FM 1528, Cooper, TX 75432. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00-2:00 p.m.

Ricky was born in Commerce, TX on July 15, 1957 to Wabern Lee and Dorothy (Smith) McCarty.  He was a talented house painter and handyman who took great pride in his work.  Ricky loved watching sports and cheering on his favorite teams.  He was of the Christian faith and was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Ricky is survived by his son, Jeremy McCarty; brothers, Michael McCarty and wife Sheila of Plano, TX, Larry Maynard of Sulphur Springs, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Smith Bishop; father, Wabern Lee McCarty; and sister, Peggy Dunavin.
