Roger Woods

Roger Wain Woods was born on August 23, 1942 in Independence, Kansas to Leroy and Bonetta (Darby) Woods.  After high school, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country proudly for 14 years.  During that time, he was in an elite Air Force Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) unit, which he felt was the highlight of his military career.  Roger married the love of his life, Ethelyn Diane Reeves, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada on August 31, 1971 and together they raised four children.  

Roger was a great friend to all he met and an advocate for the underdog and the oppressed.  He was a lover of animals and the great outdoors.  He will be greatly missed by all, including his German Shepherds Duke and Chips. Mr. Woods passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Autumn Wind Assisted Living in Winnsboro, TX.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane Woods; sons, Roger Woods Jr. and wife Rae, Brian Woods and wife Ruth; daughters, Pam Thomas, Janett Johnson and husband Dennis; grandchildren, Joshua, Michael, Michaela and her husband Matthew, Helen, Benjamin, Levi, Abigail, and David; and great-grandson, Asher.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Leroy; mother, Bonetta; brothers, Wesley and Tay; sisters, Bonetta Bostick and Leora Farnsworth; and grandson, Kenneth.
