Ronald K. "Ronnie" Almon

Family-led celebration of life for Ronald K. “Ronnie” Almon, age 79, of Klondike, Texas, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Klondike Community Center at 5518 Farm to Market Road 1528 in Klondike, Texas 75448. Mr. Almon passed away at Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, Texas, on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

Ronald K. “Ronnie” Almon was born on June 8, 1947, in Dallas, Texas to the late Raymond and Mary Katherine “Katy” (McIntire) Almon. He married Marjorie Jonette (McCombs) Almon in Wolfe City, Texas, on August 21, 1975. Ronnie graduated from Frisco High School in 1965 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1976 from East Texas State University. In 1969, he proudly answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army. He served from 1969 to 1970 as a Sergeant with B Battery, 4th Battalion, 60th Artillery. During his military service, Ronnie was awarded a Bronze Star, Vietnam Commendation Medal, two Overseas Bars, the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal in recognition of his service and dedication to his country. Following his military service, Ronnie began a long and rewarding career with Sprint Telephone Company, where he worked as a Customer Service Technician and cable splicer. He devoted 32 years to the company before retiring. Ronnie was deeply committed to serving his community. He served on the board of West Delta Water Supply and proudly served one term as its president. He also served on the Shiloh Cemetery Board, giving his time and talents to help preserve and care for his community. Ronnie was a proud member of the National Dusters, Quads and Search Lights Association. His military service, professional career, and involvement in his community reflected his strong sense of dedication, service, and pride. He will be remembered for the many ways he gave himself to his family, his country, and his community.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Marjorie Jonette Almon of Klondike, Texas; daughter, Hillary Murray and husband Shawn of Cooper, Texas; granddaughter, Conlee Murray; nieces, Margie Scott and husband Marc, Kari Roberts, Lindsey Sommers and husband Jeff, their three children; sister-in-laws, Linda Wheeler and husband Eddie, Shelia Almon; and many special friends and family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Freddie Almon; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Roberts.

A heartfelt and sincere thank you to all of the employees of the Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home for their care and concern for Ronnie during his stay there.
