Memorial service for Sandy Richard, 80, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at League Street Church of Christ. Mrs. Richard passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Sandy was born on May 25, 1946, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Burke and Laverne Standridge. On April 28, 1966, she married Dwayne Richard, beginning a loving partnership that spanned 52 years. A dedicated educator, Sandy earned her bachelor’s degree in education from East Central State College and devoted most of her career to teaching within the Lancaster School District in California. She had a lifelong love of gardening and was admired for her exceptional green thumb. Sandy also enjoyed traveling to Tahiti, being a part of magical memories with her grandkids, and embracing opportunities for adventure and learning. Faith was a cornerstone of Sandy’s life. As a devoted member of League Street Church of Christ, she generously shared her time and talents by volunteering in the Clothing Room and Food Pantry. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne, in 2018, and is survived by her son, Jason Richard of Long Beach, California; daughters, Kristi Henshaw of Arlington, Virginia, and Jessica Bright of Brownwood, Texas; daughter-in-law, Molly Richard; sons-in-law, David Henshaw and Adam Bright; grandsons, Knox Richard, Burke Richard, and Preston Bright; granddaughters, Daphne Richard, Madilyn Henshaw, and Morgan Henshaw; sister, Lesa Irick; and brother, Rick Standridge. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made in Sandy’s honor to the League Street Church of Christ, Food Pantry, or Clothing Room.
