Shirley was born October 21, 1936 in Midvale, Idaho to William Wesley and Ena Rena (Collins) Dale. Shirley’s mother, Ena Rena, passed away when Shirley was just 3 years old. During her adolescent years she and her sister, Joyce lived with their grandparents Ella and Everett Collins, and Olie and Cora Dale. Later, Shirley’s father remarried and Viola (Cada) Dale joined the family. Shirley was happy to be reunited at home with her father and new mother. Sometime after, a new sister joined the family. Shirley and Joyce loved and adored Marcia. Shirley began her education in a small one room school called Valley View. Later she attended Apple Valley grade school in Parma, and then Midvale Grade School. She graduated from Midvale High School in 1954 where she was a standout on the girls basketball and softball teams. After graduation she attended Nampa Business College and went to work for the USDA in Weiser. She married Robb Roy Richmond on September 14, 1958 in Ontario, Oregon. Shirley and Robb began their lives together in Fruitland Idaho, and Ontario Oregon. They eventually moved to Washington State where they lived in Kent and eventually made their way into the Columbia Basin of Eastern Washington where they spent most of the time farming and raising their family. They had a small farm near George for several years in the 70’s and later planted and developed a beautiful and productive apple orchard near Moses Lake. Shirley enjoyed picking her prized apples and selling them at the farmers market. Shirley also worked at Willow Drive Nursery from 1970 until she retired in 2000. Shirley was kind and caring to everyone she met. She loved her children and grandchildren and always had time to listen to them, play games and teach them the values that were so much a part of her character. She had an infectious laugh and brilliant smile. She also loved to write in her journal, preserve and write family history and make scrapbooks of photos and cherished mementos for her children. She wanted more than anything for her posterity to know their Savior, Jesus Christ and to what source they could look to obtain true joy.

She is survived by her husband, Robb; daughter, Ena Maria Richmond; sons, Dennis Roy Richmond and wife, Susan, Alan Dale Richmond and wife, Jana Lee; grandchildren, James Palmer, Kyle Palmer, Lauren Morris, Collin Palmer, Mandy Sue Miller, Marissa Bassham, Eddy Richmond, Chandler Richmond, Derek Richmond and Dylan Richmond; great grandchildren, Calvin Morris, Daxton Morris, Nora Morris, Tyler Palmer, Riley Palmer, Zoe Bassham, Cora Bassham, Anderson Miller, Emma Sue Miller, Thomas Miller, Pipkin Richmond, Royal Richmond, Gem Richmond, Liam Richmond, Eli Richmond and Millie Richmond; sisters, Joyce Tuttle, and Marica Dale.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Carol “Bud” Dale, and stepmother Viola (Cada) Dale.
