Funeral services for Sidney Joe Phillips, age 80, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 14, 2010, with Rev. Brian Bosworth officiating. A military graveside service under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at Forest Academy, Serving as pallbearers will be Dean Eudy, Spencer Wilson, Herbert Anderson, Turk Morgan, Bill Frazier, Dakota Brown, Caleb Frazier and Colton Frazier. Honorary pallbearers will be Wesleyan Sunday School Class, Gene Ridling, Bill Alford and Larry French. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Sidney Joe Phillips passed away Friday morning, November 12, 2010, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Shamrock, on June 23, 1930, the son of Giles Oswald Phillips and Dottie Ann (Morgan) Phillips. He married Eva Mae Glover in Como, on October 14, 1961; she survives. Mr. Philips was a retired mechanical engineer from Rockwell and he was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Navy.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Tina Phillips and Ron Mayberry and Lee Ann Frazier and husband, Jason, all of Sulphur Springs; sister, Dodie Anderson of Amarillo and grandchildren, Colton and Caleb Frazier; He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Ray Phillips, J. L. Phillips and Phil Phillips. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church and/or Forest Academy Cemetery.
