Visitation for Stanley Robert “Stan” Kent, age 77, of Brashear, Texas, will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Kent passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026.

Stan was born on April 14, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Blanche Motley Chapline and Chester Harry Chapline. His father passed away from polio when Stan was an infant. In 1951, his mother married Roy Wing Kent of Mexico, Missouri, who lovingly adopted Stan and his older brother, Ronald Chester Chapline, and welcomed them into the Kent family. Stan grew up in Mexico, Missouri, where he graduated from Mexico High School in 1967. During his school years, he proudly served as a trainer for the Mexico High School football team, continuing a meaningful family connection to the school, as both his adoptive father, Roy Kent, and his biological father, Chester Chapline, had played on the legendary, undefeated 1940 Mexico High School football team. Stan earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Kansas State University in 1972. Driven by a lifelong passion for design, he later returned to Kansas State University to earn his Bachelor of Architecture in 1989. He went on to enjoy a distinguished career as an architect, a profession he practiced with dedication and pride for more than three decades before retiring in 2015. Stan married the love of his life, Nancy Harvieux, on May 2, 1987. Together, they built a life filled with love, adventure, horses, and lots of dogs. They lived for many years in Rose Hill, Kansas, before retiring to Brashear, Texas. Nancy preceded Stan in death on March 15, 2026. Stan was deeply committed to serving both his community and the people around him. Throughout his life, he was an active member of several Rotary Clubs, including the Rotary Club of Sulphur Springs, where he enjoyed building friendships and giving back through service. Beyond his professional and civic accomplishments, Stan will be forever remembered for his legendary puns and playful sense of humor. He was always ready with a joke or clever one-liner, believing there was no better gift than making someone laugh. Stan also found great joy in riding horses, fostering dogs, and embracing the challenge of marathon running. Whether outdoors with his animals or training for his next race, he lived with an adventurous spirit, quiet determination, and a genuine appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

He is survived by his brother, Ron Kent, of Mexico, Missouri; his sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Kent Carnahan and her husband, Gary Carnahan, of Newnan, Georgia; nephews Brian Kent and wife Angie, of Columbia, Missouri, and Andrew Kent and wife Kelly, of St. Louis, Missouri; nieces Kathryn Kent Landers and husband Shawn, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Ann Claire Carnahan Egan and husband Thomas, of Washington, D.C.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Family was defined by love to Stan, and few embodied that more than Aleigha and Clint Williams, who faithfully cared for him for many years, and their son, Monty, all of whom became family through love.

Stan was also preceded in death by his parents, Roy Wing Kent, Blanche Motley Kent, and Chester Harry Chapline; his beloved horse, Zipper; and his faithful dog, Bri.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers, healthcare professionals, friends, and loved ones who walked alongside Stan throughout the years. Your compassion and kindness brought immeasurable comfort to both Stan and his family.
