Tess Furguson

A graveside service for Tess Furguson, age 89, of Cumby, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Ridgeway Cemetery with Don Kearby officiating. Visitation will be held at the cemetery thirty minutes prior to service. Mrs. Furguson passed away on September 30, 2022.

Tess Furguson was born on May 24, 1933 to Oral and Lorene Evans in Brownwood, Texas. Tess married Roy Furguson on January 21, 1956 in Irving, Texas. They were married 65 years. Roy preceded her in death on November 25, 2021. Tess worked for Austin Bridge until they started a family, which brought them three daughters and a son. She then became a full-time homemaker, mother and a farmer’s wife. Then she added the title of “MA” to two grandsons and a granddaughter. She and Roy had faming operations that included a dairy and vegetable farm, that they had for more than 50 years, until their health could no longer allow it.

She is survived by her daughters, Glenda Hickman of Cumby, Susan Furguson of Cumby and Diana Abbott and husband, Terry of Princeton; son, Mike and wife, Linda of Terrell; grandsons, Travis and fiancé, Colleen, Jake and wife, Becca; granddaughter, Madison; sister, Elna Clark and brother, Ben Evans.

Tess was preceded in death by her husband, Roy and her parents.
