Funeral services for Thelma Medders, age 90, of Paris, formerly of Hopkins County will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Evers officiating. Interment will follow in Brashear Cemetery with Matt Mitchell, David Medders, Daniel Medders, Joe Pritchett, Harold Pritchett and William Dell Medders, Jr. serving as pallbearers. Earl Stephens will serve as honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Thelma Fay Medders passed away Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Heritage Care Center in Paris, Texas. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Medders was born July 28, 1919, the daughter of James Revy Davis and Lela Maud (Berry) Davis. She married David Bascom Medders in Wood County, Texas on February 11, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Survivors include: daughters, Patricia Ann Baucum and husband, Douglas, of Powderly, Retha May Niswonger of Brashear, Linda Joyce Freeman and husband, Dwight of Cumby, Wanda Jean Hale and husband, Johnny of Chicota; sons, Rondel Ray Medders of Copeville; Terry Wayne Medders and wife, Ann, of Copeville, and Danny Lynn Medders and wife Sharon, of Dallas; 23 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and four great- great grandchildren; brother, Horace Wayne Davis, of Garland and one sister, Jane Blount, of Mesquite.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin brother, Elmer Ray Davis; two sisters, Ina May Davis and Jen Stewart; and brother, Elgie Davis.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetic Association.
