Funeral services for Vivian Mabe, age 100, of Miller Grove, will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Tim Mabe officiating. Interment will follow at Brashear Cemetery, with Mike Mabe, Ernie Weaver, Scott Mabe, Steve Moore, Ray Watson, Robert Watson and Michael Crookham serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Mabe's grandsons. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2010 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Vivian Odessa Watson Mabe went home to be with the Lord on December 9, 2010 in Sulphur Springs. She married Oather Mabe on December 24, 1930. They enjoyed a long life together, eventually settling in Miller Grove on their dairy farm. Mema, as she was known to her family, enjoyed rural life, animals, needlework, working in her yard and her family. Each grandchild knew that he or she held a special place in her heart.
Survivors include: two children, Chrysteen Mabe Watts and husband, James, of Greenville, Larry Mabe and wife, Lana, of Miller Grove; grandchildren, Bart Millsap of Mt. Vernon, Regina Strickland and husband, Garry, of Commerce, Virginia Rutherford and husband, Joe, of Greenville, Eric Mabe of Miller Grove, Vicki Lee and husband, Keith, of Miller Grove, Dianne Weaks and husband, Mike, of Lone Oak, Lance Mabe and wife, Kelly, of Brashear, Leslie Castillo and husband, Bobby, of Greenville; eighteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oather in 1988; daughter, Sylvia Mabe Millsap in 1983. She was the oldest of five children in her family and survived all of her siblings.
