Waunelle Laird

Graveside Service for Waunelle Laird, age 82 of Rockwall, TX will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.  Mrs. Laird passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024. 

Gladys Waunelle Laird was born on March 7, 1941 in Paris, TX to Claude and Bessie (Bough) Smart.  She married Jack Laird in Jacksonville, FL on January 14, 1976.  Waunelle was a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 35 years and was loved by her patients.  She was a natural caregiver.  She was a member of the Community Lighthouse Baptist Church in Cumby.  Waunelle actively participated in the Daughters of Black Jack Grove and was a dedicated supporter of the Cumby Food Pantry for many years. 

She is survived by her six children, Debra Hein of Texas, Chester Moore of Indiana, Dale Moore of Indiana, Robert Moore of Florida, Jackie Moore of Indiana, Jennifer Cummings (Clive) of Texas; Seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brothers, Clinton Smart and Duane Smart. 

Waunelle was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Bessie Smart; husband, Jack Laird; brother, Ernest Smart.
