Wayne Cox

Funeral Services for Wayne Cox, age 77, of Dike, will be conducted at Peerless Baptist Church, at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2009, with Rev. Charles Rawlinson and Rev. Doyle Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Peerless Cemetery, with Tony Kaufman, James McKeever, Richard Greer, David Carpenter, John David Moore, Don McCullum, Chief Star, C. J. Richey and Butch Kaufman serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Wayne Cox passed away Monday, August 10, 2009, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Peerless, on February 25, 1932, the son of Corbet Lonzo Cox and Annie Mae (Beadles) Cox. He married Jimmie Peugh at Hatchetville, on July 18, 1953; she survives. Mr. Cox was a retired dairy farmer and rancher and a member of Peerless Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: daughter, Judy Mitchell of Hatchetville; two sons, Hollis Cox and wife, Janet, of Posey and Larry Cox, and wife, Tina, of Peerless; brother, Eddie Cox of Posey; grandchildren, Jennifer Eutzy, Richard Greer, Jessica Gandy, Johnnie Vitro, Alice Richey, Grace Cox, Stacey Godbolt and John Moore; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Danny Mitchell; sister, Charlene McCallum and one great-grandchild.
