Funeral services for Wayne Dalton, age 84, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 18. 2010, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Dalton's grandchildren will be serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2010.
Wayne Dalton passed away Tuesday evening, September 14, 2010 at the V.A. Hospital in Dallas. He was born in Delta County on April 12, 1926, the son of Albert Henry Dalton and Bannie (Norfleet) Dalton. He married Delia Juanita McCurdy in Dallas on January 17, 1950; she survives. Mr. Dalton was a retired owner and operator of Dalton Nursery and he was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army as an M.P. officer during World War II.
Other survivors include: three sons, Jerry Dalton, Leslie Dalton, both of Sulphur Springs and Kenneth Dalton of Yantis; daughter, Clara Mae Dalton of Sulphur Springs; sister, Bonnie Kate Jones of Commerce; grandchildren, David Townsend, Gary Townsend, Phillip Dalton, Jeremy Dalton, Adam Dalton, Bubba Dalton, Teresa Clem, Charles Dalton, Paul Dalton and Christy Dalton; several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
