Funeral Services for Weldon "Gene" Barrett, age 76 of Sulphur Springs will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Murray-Orwosky Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Rhoades and Rev Bruce Stinson officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park with Billy Mack Chamness, Mitchel McCarty, Randy Jenkins, Joe Rudzik, Doyle Starrett, and Ricky Glossup serving as pallbearers. With Dr. Calderin, Larry Riley and Bobby Matthews serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be 6 till 8 pm, Monday, April 11, 2011 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Weldon Eugene Barrett passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 at Carriage House Manor. He was born in Cumby on June 26, 1934 the son of Holten Dewitt and Nellie Bulter Barrett. He married Carolyn Tanton in Sulphur Springs on July 9, 1971. Weldon served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church and work at Rockwell International for over forty three years.
Survivors include: wife, Carolyn Barrett of Sulphur Springs; and their two children, son, Greg Barrett and wife, Cheryl of Sulphur Springs; daughter, Tasia Willhite and husband, Zack of Sulphur Springs, and three other daughters, Nina Cassidy of Sulphur Springs, Donna Hudson of Dallas, and Kelly Wilson and husband, Rob of Keller; three sisters, Ruby Smith of Sulphur Springs, Merle McCarty of Sulphur Springs, and Wanda Alexander of Brashear; five grandchildren, Casey Cassidy, Brandon Hudson, Chase Hudson, Walker Wilson and Jackson Wilson; one great grandchild, Bentley Cassidy; three step-grandchildren, Patrick Radney, Jacob Radney and Christopher Radney; and one step great-grandchild, Adrian Gabriel Cox.
He was preceded in death by parents, two brothers and seven sisters.
Memorials may be made to Hospice at Memorial.
