Burrell Merritt

Graveside service for Burrell Dean Merritt, age 82, of  Sulphur Springs, TX will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, July 5, 2021 at Mt. Sterling Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Tiemeyer officiating and Brandon Mitchell, Reese Hurley, Kate Mitchell, Sydney Mitchell, Lani Hurley, Rydell Hurley and Tonya Hurley serving as pallbearers.  There will be no formal visitation.  Mrs. Merritt passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021 at her home in Sulphur Springs.

Burrell Dean was born on September 28, 1938 in Hopkins County, Texas to Burrell Green and Mamie (Harlow) Gibbons.  She married R.L. Merritt on September 23, 1955 in Sulphur Springs, he preceded her in death in 1969.  She was a retired secretary and of the Baptist Faith.

Burrell Dean is survived by her daughters, Linda Mitchell and husband, Mike, Ann Clifton; grandchildren, Brandon Mitchell, Tonya Hurley and Reese; great grandchildren, Kate Mitchell, Sydney Mitchell, Lani Hurley, Rydell Hurley, Kopelyn Hurley; sister, Betty Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.L.; grandson, Jody Mitchell; sisters, Pat Glasscock, Doris Dodd, Nora Bentley; brothers, Pete Gibbons, Charlie Gibbons, Herschel Gibbons.
