Funeral service for Michael “Mikey” Comer, age 59, of Cumby will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at County Line Baptist Church, Miller Grove, with Bro. Wayne Darty officiating.  Interment will follow at Cumby Cemetery.  Visitation will held from 6 to 8 P.M on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Murray-Orwoksy Funeral Home.  Michael “Mikey” Glenn Comer went home to Jesus on September 4th, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children. He said his goodbyes to his family and raised his hands to the Lord.

Mike was born on August 25th, 1962, in Levelland, Texas to Thomas Ray Comer and his devoted mother, Delores Ermal Dean Robinson. Mike was a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School.  Michael married the love of his life, Anita, on October 15th, 1988. They enjoyed almost 33 years of marriage and built a beautiful family that will miss him greatly.  Mike was a Christian man of God, hard worker and provided for his family as a truck driver. He was happiest on horseback, behind the wheel of his truck or his Harley Davidson traveling the beauty of God’s earth. He loved the outdoors- he built many strong friendships while fishing, hunting, camping, and long motorcycle rides. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan-thick or thin- and good luck in beating him in his Fantasy Football League. He worshipped God with all his heart and soul. He discovered that his purpose on earth was to witness for the Lord and he did so with a faithful and persistent challenge. To know Mike was to know God. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church where he and his family were wrapped with a loving church family.

Family and friends were important to Mike. He loved them all and they loved him. He has a huge close-knit family led by strong examples of character and faith. He often shared stories of wisdom and humor from his Uncle J. G. that molded his life. He was a loved husband, Daddy, Pawpaw, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Time spent with “his girls” were his happiest moments. Many “manly” hours were spent playing Pretty Pretty Princess, playing dress up, babysitting dolls, eating countless pretend food, catching softballs, critiquing cheer routines, enjoying cartoons in his lap, and tickling and giggling until they yelled for him to stop or constantly listening to “Pawpaw you silly!”

His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his wife, Anita; daughter Meagan Groening and husband Cody; daughter Michaela Thorn and husband Anthony; mother, Ermal and husband Don Williams; sister Sherrye Winkle and husband James; brother Kenny Comer and wife Amber; brother Marlon Comer; granddaughters Zoey Groening and Sally Mask; sisters and brothers in laws, Steve and Jennifer Hammond, and Kristina and Brent Seely; nieces and nephews, countless cousins, and endless friends.

He was preceded in death by sister, Janice Comer, father, grandparents Virgil and Lois Robinson, and many family and friends waiting for him at the gates of Heaven.

In lieu of flowers, you can consider a donation in Mike’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Foundation.
